Checkengine light usually goes on because there is an issue with the fuel/emissions system in the bike. Whether it's an injector, a sensor, etc. it gets tripped. Loosenthe top fork cap on the tubes 1 full turn with a socket BEFORE taking the forks off the bike, round tubes are very hard to get leverage on to loosen the fork cap. Once you (inevitably) get oil on the tube, its very hard to grip. 4.) Once the forks are removed and the cap fully unscrewed, drain the oil.
